I like it but grind grind grind

Great graphics and storyline and a great feel to it. It’s clear the developers have done a great job but there’s something about the gameplay that is off. I want to like it, I keep playing it, but in the end it’s a grindfest. Your constantly just crafting minimal tools and armor to gather materials in hopes of upgrading but upgrading is so costly it’s almost not worth doing as everything wears out so quickly. To upgrade your backpack requires a high level and is relatively costly in materials and making a bow (a relatively basic weapon) is almost impossible too as you can’t craft a bowstring, you have to be lucky enough to find it. You also can’t craft a harness, saddle or trough for your horse - you need to find those too. These and other “special” items are hard to come by even if you are able to survive random events.
I was a fan of Last Day on Earth as well and reached a saturation point as well, it seems that Grim Soul grows more tedious and feels like a chore after awhile.
I understand the developers need to make this more of a challenge and you don’t want to make it too easy but something has to be done to balance out the gameplay somehow. If I’m level 65 but running around naked with 2 staffs and a pile of beef jerky because I need a week to gather materials ten something is wrong. Maybe it’s me?

Needs an update seriously!

If we could get live meters showing your status without having to open the backpack that would be nice and a status for when you’re gonna throw up there’s been too many times I’ve died because my character needed to throw up. While you’re on the battlefield if you run out of bandages you eat whatever you come by I know you’ll throw up but if I could see how close I am to doing it I won’t eat that last bit of food in the middle of a fight I’ll run. Second stop with the fake player bots they come attack me leave grab no loot and the work with the all the creatures attacking you if it was a real player we could probably team up seems impossible when all you see are killer boys that the AI makes run straight after you relentlessly. It’s annoying having to fight one but you have to fight them on top of whatever creatures are chasing you it’s not even a challenge it’s just depressing. Dying your loot disappears your hard work out the window you don’t even get looted you just sit there and rot and realize that you just wasted your time because the game is built to make you lose. Also why do we have to get to such a high level before we can get the better backpack having such low storage seemed like you just had to play it safe but when you realize how long you’re gonna have to keep going out and coming back (if you make it back) the task seems more tiring than fun especially with the energy reload time

Hello.

Thank you for your review.

Unfortunately, we don't clearly understand your first issue. Could you please specify this issue more detailed? What do you mean?

The other exiles are part of the Grim Soul world too. Their main goal is to interrupt you in your adventures whatever the circumstances.

If you died on a self-updated location, for example, on any skull location or quest location, your body will disappear after death, since this location will be reset after your leaving. But if you die at locations such as ruins, event, enemies' or your stronghold you will be able to find your body there.
Note, that only last body of your character is saved. If you die again, the previous body will disappear.
You can lose your items in any skull locations. And for the first entering in these locations, you had a pop-up warning about it.

Good game, terrible purchasing

This survival game is fun to pick up and put down anytime. It runs well and the mechanics are on point. The major issue I find disturbing is what the developers offer in shop. Of course they would need to make money to continue this game, and obviously investing to boost your character development or building your own strategy without investments is your choice. You can freely play by your own decisions. True and I never had a problem with this; however there is no good reason for anything that they show to be in the store. Often shoving pop-ups in your face to purchase weapons/armors for $20 or $100 that would break in 10-20 minutes. It really seems like the devs don't care about the players to offer such deals. Of course I know it's designed to just throw money at this game.

I think the gameplay is good and what they offer in the shop is just a rip-off. A club breaks in less than one wood-chopping run. With low durability for all items in this game(even unique and legendary weapons), it feels more like a grind to achieve goals rather than skill. I have even killed eisenborg on the 3rd floor in the forsaken dungeon without spending a cent on this game; so money is not required to win(investing a ton of time grinding, even with perfect farming efficiency it still takes a while). Also the hearth, bed, etc. are not free. As for the survival aspect, this is a free game.

Developer Response ,

Hi there, thank you for sharing your thoughts on Grim Soul! Some weapons have higher attack power, allowing you to defeat more enemies or deal more damage. They last longer even without high durability, as you can win faster with them. A real bed is a luxury in the harsh world of Lubenia, but you can craft a mat instead.
